CNJ M2s "Antrhacite Road Mikado"
Central Railroad of New Jersey M2s Mikado on the lead of a joint CNJ/Reading freight train. These units had the oversized Wooten fireboxes to take advantage of anthracite coal. They were used on heavy freight. Built by ALCO's Brooks Locomotive Works between 1920 and 1922, they were retired between 1947 (the time of this photo) and 1955. Virtually identical to the USRA Heavy Mikado (except for the Wooten firebox). While I can't read a number on this unit, it would have been between 860 and 870.
